Strathcona County Bird Watching Kits Case Study

strathcona-county

The Problem:

The team at Strathcona County came to us with a problem.  They needed to create a Bird Watching kit to help promote getting outside and learning about nature.  The kit was to include bird watching manuals, pamphlets, tools (like binoculars and a bird caller) and more!  I offered them branded binoculars, but what they really needed was a really good quality, rugged tough and dependable bag for all of the items to go in.

The Solution:

We went on the hunt for a bag that would have padded shoulder straps, reinforced stitching, multiple pockets and was easy to open.  We found exactly that in the Koozie Group Easy Open Backpack.  This backpack had a large area for embroidering the Bird Watching and Transmountain logos and came it at a reasonable price.  Other features like the side compression straps make this backpack easier to carry and a great option for keeping the bird watching kits in the field for trip after trip.

Results:

The backpacks are now available for loan at The Strathcona County Library as well as on site for borrowing for day trips at the Strathcona Wilderness Centre, and the Kinsmen Leisure Centre. Hopefully this gets kids outside more learning about nature and enjoying bird watching and learning more about the ecosystem that they live amongst.  Special thanks to Transmountain for sponsoring this great community building project!
