At The Promo Addict, we love when a project challenges us to think outside the box and the Edmonton Police Foundation Half Marathon gave us the perfect opportunity to flex our creative muscles. This year’s event featured three race categories Half Marathon, 10KM, and 5KM and we were honoured to create custom medals that not only celebrated the achievements of the runners, but also paid tribute to the law enforcement community.
A Medal with Meaning
Instead of a traditional round medal, we wanted something that instantly connected with the mission of the Edmonton Police Foundation. That’s how the handcuff medal was born. Designed to mimic a real pair of police handcuffs, this custom medal was bold, iconic, and deeply symbolic. It represented the dedication, strength, and resilience of both the officers the foundation supports and the runners hitting the pavement.
The Finishing Touch: Police Tape Ribbon
We didn’t stop with just a unique medal shape. To take the concept even further, we paired the handcuff medals with a striking police tape-themed ribbon. Bright yellow with black “POLICE LINE” graphics, the ribbon added a visually powerful and cohesive element that tied the whole design together. It was a showstopper something runners were genuinely excited to earn and proud to wear.
